Believe it or not, not all snakes are harmful, treat them with extra care.
Ghana’s Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has advised students and members of the University community to protect the lives of snakes found on the University campus.
The University issued a caution statement after a driver ran over an African Emerald Snake, a harmless member of the Colubridae family on campus.
KNUST wrote on its official Facebook page that ‘African Emerald Snakes, harmless members of the Colubridae family, are occasionally seen across KNUST’s green corridors. One was sadly run over today. Let us drive with care and respect the quiet biodiversity that shares our campus. #KNUSTBiodiversity 📸| Emmanuel Kwasi Debrah’.
Essentially, the statement advocates for a safer environment for the reptiles.
Commenting on the post, one social media said ‘Kindly show us a photo of one in your house or better still your bedroom so that we can live by the example. Else! The admonition in Genesis will be their portion.😂😂😂😂🐍’.
Another netizen added ‘The last time we allowed a snake to coexist with humans, we were kicked out of the garden of Eden’.
‘Where was it going?. Probably, going to deceive another Eve to do something more dangerous.History must not repeat itself again’, one social media user said in a jovial voice.
