The Office of the President has directed that the Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), Divine Selasi Agbeti,be suspended from office for two weeks for allegedly acting against the President’s directive on use of the military as personal bodyguards.
Agbeti was seen in a video clip where he used a uniformed military officer as his personal bodyguard at a public event contrary to the President’s order.
Sources say the Office of the President lodged a formal complaint, prompting the Minister for Communications to act on the matter.
A suspension directive was then issued to allow a full probe into the misconduct allegations.
Letter from the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama dated July 15, 2025 expressed the presidency’s strong disapproval of Mr Agbeti’s conduct.
Public officials now require express authorisation to engage the services of uniformed military officers.
President John Mahama’s administration strictly want public officials to work with the police.
Recently, the government withdrew soldiers who were serving as personal bodyguards to the Ghana Electoral Commissioner, and replaced them with police officers.
In a related development, John Mahama has been listed among the Top 10 Most Handsome Presidents in Africa. More in the video below.
