Nana Agradaa has thanked President John Mahama for pardoning Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi,Acting GoldBod CEO over the dollar gift saga.
Agradaa, who has been the major actor in dollar gift issue couldn’t hold back her joy after news broke that no further action would be taken against the GoldBod CEO following his initial apology letter to the President.
Earlier, a private citizen, Eric Dumenu Akatsi petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) on Sammy Gyamfi’s matter.
‘Mr. Akatsi argued that the overt display of wealth, combined with what he claims are significant sums in Mr. Gyamfi’s Consolidated Bank Ghana accounts, raises red flags about potential corruption’, Adomonline reported.
He added that ‘his petition calls for a full-scale probe into the source of the alleged large sums in Mr. Gyamfi’s bank accounts’, and also maintained that his actions were not politically motivated but was a civic duty to demand accountability based on Article 41 of the 1992 Constitution, which enjoins citizens to report suspected misconduct and promote the public good.
Mr Akatsi has since withdrawn the CHRAJ petition.
