Whether you cry or not, state broadcaster, GTV has re-introduced the collection of TV licence.
Domestic TV users are to pay between GH¢36 and GH¢60 for one or more TV sets in the same house every year. Fees can be paid via short code.
Defaulters ‘shall be liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year’ according to established law, Section 1(a) of the TV licensing Act 1966 (NLCD 89) as amended.
When GTV shared a parody post on their official Twitter page on Friday, May 5, 2023, and ‘threatened’ to send people who do not pay their TV licence and follow them back on Twitter to Nogokpo, people thought it was a joke.
