Artist manager and entertainment pundit Bulldog has been released from national security custody and granted bail today, Wednesday, January 13 by an Accra Circuit court.
Bulldog, known in private life as Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson was arrested on Monday after he criticized President Nana Akufo-Addo over the Menzgold saga.
He is alleged to have said on a TV programme that President Akufo-Addo will not complete his four-year term in office if the aggrieved customers were not paid their locked up investments in the gold dealership firm.
According to reports, Bulldog was picked up and interrogated because the statement he made amounts to threatening the sitting President.
Whiles in court today, Bulldog is reported to have been granted a GHc 70,000 bail. He was also required to provide two sureties as part of the bail conditions.
It is not too clear at this time as to the exact charges that were preferred against the outspoken entertainment pundit.
Veteran highlife singer Rex Omar confirmed the release of Bulldog in an interview on Okay FM monitored by Kasatintin.com a moment ago.
‘About 30 minutes ago Bulldog’s Lawyer informed me that he has been granted bail, so that’s what I can say now’.
‘When I personally saw him yesterday and we spoke, he looked very okay and in a high spirit … everyone should calm down. Per my observation, nothing showed he was tortured while in custody’, he told Abeiku Santana.
Rex Omar also shot down rumours that members of the opposition NDC influenced the artist manager’s release.
He advised the general public not to politicise the matter.
