President Nana Akuffo-Addo, on Sunday, March 15, 2020 announced a ban on all funerals, church services and other social gatherings as part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus in the country.
We are sorry to inform you that a couple has defied this simple directive by holding a secret wedding ceremony in Obuasi on Saturday.
A man identified as Philip Agreko, 35 and his wife, Ama Frema, 40 are expected to be arraigned before court on Tuesday for not complying with the ban on social gathering as directed by the President.
Kasatintin.com gathers that the COVID-19 Taskforce together with the Obuasi Municipal Police stormed the wedding grounds at the time the couple had exchanged their marriage vows, rings and were able to share refreshment for their guests.
Information claimed that the bride fell down after the tail of the wedding gown trapped her. The police then arrested her.
More than a hundred guests were present at the marriage ceremony and they attempted to flee upon seeing the security officials.
The taskforce however managed to apprehend 49 people at the compound house where the event took place.
Police has since taken the statements of the suspects and they are likely to process for court on Tuesday.
