Fans of Daddy Lumba and people in the Eastern Region will have the chance to pay tribute to legendary Highlife singer, Daddy Lumba on Saturday,August 2,2025 in Koforidua.
De-Ofosu Plaza Hotel and De-Ofosu Events Centre have put together a line of activities to make the Saturday event a unique experience.
From 7am, a Book of Condolence for the late Daddy Lumba will be opened at De-Ofosu Plaza Hotel, Apenkwa Junction off the Koforidua Technical University Highway. This is opened to the public.
At the same point, fans will be given free DL T-shirts and candles as they warm up for a candlelight procession at 7pm.
The candlelight procession will start from Total 2 Filling Station and end at Afeema FM near Agartha Market.
Afterwards, a night concert featuring tributes and performances of Daddy Lumba’s timeless songs will be held at De-Ofosu Plaza Hotel.
Meanwhile, a national candlelight vigil in the memory of Daddy Lumba is also scheduled for the same day at the Independence Square in Accra, starting at 6pm, under the auspices of the Creative Arts Agency.
Daddy Lumba’s family has since Tuesday, July 29,2025 opened a Book of Condolence at his private residence in Accra, and they appreciate the outpouring of love and support following his passing.
Daddy Lumba passed away on Saturday, July 26,2025 in hospital after a short illness. He was 60years.
Lumba’s impact on the Ghanaian music industry is undisputed. He is credited with 33 albums and over 200 songs throughout his musical career spanning almost four decades.
The musician’s songs touched on themes such as love, forgiveness, beauty, money, death and many others.
President John Mahama paid tribute to him on Sunday. His post on Facebook read ‘Lumba’s unmatched musical genius provided the soundtrack to our lives, carrying us through various phases of life. The beats to his memorable songs may have died down, but his enduring legacy will echo through the ages’.
