A popular football fan believed to be a passionate supporter of Kumasi Asante Kotoko football club has been stabbed to death on Sunday,February 2,2025.
The deceased, Frimpong Yaw Francis also known as Pooley met his untimely demise during a Matchday 19 Premier League fixture between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
He died at the Ghana Premier League venue in Nsoatre, a suburb of the Bono Ahafo region.
In a press statement, Asante Kotoko described Pooley’s death as a ‘senseless loss of life’.
Portions of their news release read ‘Tragically, one of our supporters who was stabbed during the violence has succumbed to his injuries at the hospital,” a portion of the statement read
This senseless loss of life is devastating, and we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire Asante Kotoko fraternity’.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association has launched a full-scale investigation into the matter.
Pooley is reported to have gotten married not too long ago. Undoubtedly, the bad news will hit his wife so hard.
