The body of Christian Atsu will be flown from Turkey to Ghana for burial, Kasatintin.com can report.
A state funeral is likely to be conducted for Atsu who played for the national soccer team, Black Stars.
According to a press statement by Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, ‘The Embassy is currently making the necessary arrangements with the assistance of the Government of Türkiye to have the body transported to Ghana for burial. The public will be updated on further developments’.
Atsu’s body was retrieved on Saturday morning,February 18 from the earthquake site in south-central Turkey.
‘The elder brother and twin sister of Christian Atsu and an Officer of the Embassy were present at the site when the body was recovered,” the statement added.
