John Mahama has taken an early lead in a provisional but certified results announced by Joy FM/Joy News/Adom TV, Ghana’s biggest media giant and closely monitored by Kasatintin.com.
The available results show a disturbing trend where the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate appears to be doing so well in the strongholds of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mahama has polled 52.27% (498,968) votes in the 37 constituencies announced by the media house as of 8.50am. NPP’s presidential candidate Dr Mahumudu Bawumia has 46.00% (439,095) votes.
NDC controls 25 parliamentary seats while NPP has 12 parliamentary seats of the provisional results.
Other presidential candidates have 1.73%(16,548) votes.
During Sunday morning press conference, the Electoral Commission said collation is underway but ‘no results have been received at the national collation centre’. SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
